DFC Greets Honor Flight Veterans
DFC staff supported the Honor Flight Network this past week by greeting over 100 World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War Veterans from Fayetteville, Arkansas at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
“We can’t all be heroes. Some of us have to stand on the curb and clap as they walk by.” – Will Rogers
The Honor Flight Network flies Veterans from 127 cities, free of charge, to visit their memorials in Washington, DC. As greeters, we enthusiastically welcomed and thanked the arriving Veterans for their service. In addition to the volunteers, many travelers stopped to pay their respects to the arriving Veterans and were inspired to get involved in the future. It was humbling to experience the Veteran’s surprised and appreciative reactions to the warm welcome. Our staff enjoyed the opportunity to become better acquainted with our past generations and to learn more about what they have done to serve our country.
