DFC Welcomes Honor Flight Veterans to D.C.
DFC staff supported the Honor Flight Network this past weekend by greeting over 100 World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War Veterans from St. Louis, Missouri at the World War II Memorial on Saturday.
“We can’t all be heroes. Some of us have to stand on the curb and clap as they walk by.”
Will Rogers
Each year, DFC partners with the Honor Flight Network, which flies Veterans from 140 cities, free of charge, to visit the memorials in Washington, DC. As greeters, DFC staff enthusiastically welcomed and thanked the arriving Veterans for their service. In addition to the event volunteers, many sightseers stopped to pay their respects and cheer on the arriving Veterans. It was inspiring to see so many people stop and salute these Veterans, and ask how they can get involved in the future. It is always a humbling experience for our staff to see the Veteran’s surprised and appreciative reactions to the warm welcome. We look forward to supporting another Honor Flight event, and the opportunity for our staff to learn more about everything that past generations have done to serve our country.
