This past weekend DFC staff dedicated their Saturday to volunteering at Final Salute Inc.’s Stand-Up for Women Veterans event. Final Salute Inc.’s mission is to provide homeless women Veterans with safe and suitable housing. The Stand-Up for Women Veterans event is intended to combat one of the primary factors contributing to homelessness, unemployment.

In order to ensure a successful transition into the civilian workforce for women Veterans and military women, Final Salute Inc. provides professional business attire, dress shoes, accessories, make-overs, and professional head-shots for LinkedIn Profiles free of charge at the Stand-Up for Women Veterans event. DFC provided support before, during, and after the event by organizing donated clothing items, directing traffic, and packing remaining items for transport back to the Final Salute house.

DFC staff volunteered alongside members of Team Red, White, and Blue’s (Team RWB’s) DC chapter. Team RWB connects Veterans to their community through various physical, social, and community service activities. DFC looks forward to continuing a partnership with Team RWB for future volunteer events.
