DFC Awarded Contract with VA in support of Virtual VA and VBMS

Duty First Consulting (DFC) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, as a subcontractor to VETS Inc., to support and execute the migration of all Virtual VA documents into the Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS). The Virtual VA system enables users to capture and retrieve Veteran information, providing the ability to scan documents into an electronic repository, import existing images into the repository, and access these documents electronically. Virtual VA furthers the VA’s mission of improving the claims processing system by consolidating all Veteran information and eliminating the time and resources dedicated to storing, locating, and transporting paper claims during a claims process.

The DFC team will perform an engineering analysis resulting in recommendations for solutions supporting the new, consolidated repository and Virtual VA integration with VBMS. The DFC team will leverage these finding to develop a detailed unified image access plan, which will include gap analyses of future needs for existing Virtual VA users, Virtual VA functionality with respect to VBMS functionality, document and metadata synchronization, and an ingestion migration analysis to determine a transition strategy. The DFC team will perform engineering integration, development services, and engineering services supporting the consolidation of all image processing and document management and migrate all documents from the legacy Virtual VA environment to a consolidated repository in a VBMS-compatible architecture and format. Additionally, The DFC team will develop inputs to populate the new repository, and develop a means to allow all identified VA users access to the Virtual VA documents in the new repository.
